What do you use for an indicator to determine when it is time to freshen up a 727?
How much "mud" is too much? I rebuilt my 727 a couple of years back and have put around 65 passes on the track and about 100 miles on the street. I changed the converter, filter and fluid after the first 15 passes and had about a teaspoon on silt with a few small metallic flecks in the pan and filter. I just dropped the pan again after 50 or so passes at the track and have less silt and NO metallic flecks at all. I am very happy about this but I am curious how to best determine when it is time to go through the tranny again. Danny |

trans
I have run the same trans for 5 years... over 500 runs.. this is on a heavy car that runs 9.60s... there is a trick or two that will help it last longer..one add a deep pan.. two i add 2 Quarts mobile one syn oil 15w50 to the trans.. remember trans fliud is only hyd fliud and has no real lube in it... so the oil helps the clutchs and thrust bearing last longer..
