Cool

Hey folks,
the reason I am here is that I have a 99 motorcoach with a 5.9L cummings with a 6 speed allison auto. I would love to increase my throttle response. As it is now I step on the throttle and have to wait a few seconds and then we go forward till about 1500-1600 rpms and then we be take off like it should. i am sure there is a way to increase the response without spending a fortune or making a race motor out of it. It only has 15K miles on it and runs like a top. I do have a Ram gasser too. Great motor and my mileage is about 8.5 to 11 mpg towing a 3500lb Ferd (wifes) GVWR 25K lbs
Thanks in Advance,
irbchman

Haven't owned mine long enough to give good advice, but you might want to try www.turbodieselregister.com. I've learned a lot from that site. Membership is required to post, but not to read.

thanks for the link, boy those guys are dead damn serious about this stuff. it appears that I will have to educate myself for a month or so by just reading (and trying to understand) what the hell they are saying.

Educate yourself???,,I am still trying to keep up on both sites and doing so very well I'll tell you,,I do not know much about the motor home setup,,Which motor is in yours(hp and is it a 12 or 24 valve)??,,If you home is getting 8.5 mpg seems to me like a nice number out of something that heavy,,Never drove the Allison auto but,I'll research it some ,,,Combo seems like its not off to me.....

it is a 275 hp 24 valve, the tranny is easy to use and I only found it searching between 2 gears once or twice , and then I just downshifted to 5th till I reached the top of the hill(no mountain runs yet). I was considering changing the air intake runner, as it is a single inlet with a sharp bend(almost 90 degrees ) and rather compact, it is aft of the turbo. I have heard mixed opinions about banks systems. I saw your signature on Ram chat and that is why I came here, thought you might have some insight as to improving throttle response. Thanks for your responding!!

Default Rving is good

irbchman,

Check out Woodlawn RV. They should have some help for you.
I would have included a link, but I was having trouble getting to their site myself.

Hope this helps
