OK guys and gals Im new to the site,so please bear with me, I know this question has been asked a million times, but here goes, my son had so much fun building his 69 roadrunner that I bought a 64 dodge polara yesterday with a 318 push button trans, will his old 440 fit in the existing frame and what year 727 will I need to work with the existing push button linkage, also inheirited the posi 8 3/4 rear off the 69 and will that bolt into the dodge?(he put in a dana 60) thanks in advance....I've always been a chevy man(I still have my 55 belair conv and a 63 split win vette) but I just ordered my PT crusier(40 wk wait) so I Guess I've taken the other fork in the road.I used to say "I drink Bud and drive Chevys and my son drives Mopars and drinks Coors Light and works at Ford, I don't know where I went wrong?....

I got a better idea... jest say to heck with all of it and sell the 64 to me! but seriously, yes it will fit, you will need the big block motor mounts for it, thats basically it, the trans will need to be from a car originally equiped with the push button and a big block as far as I know (never owned one with the push button) the rear end will also fit but the drive shaft will have to be shortened or get one from a big block car, the end of the shaft will also have to be changed, it think, to hook to the newer 8 3/4, but once again, i havent owned a mid 60s car yet, just late 60s and early 70s. It should be an real easy swap though. easier than mine anyway. (360 in a 89 ram 50 (bitsumishi) truck) good luck.

VFW,if you use a '65 bb trans it is still cable operated even though it is column shifted so you can still use your pushbuttons, plus it has a real u-joint!

Try:
Shumacher Creative Services 2025 NE 123rd ST Seattle WA 98125 (206)364-7151 They have the most comprehensive selection of engine swap products available and they even have a manual/catalog that lists all of the things to look for to prevent problems with the swaps. I think its only 3-5 bucks |
