Make sure the seller has a clear title for the car.
Make the owner show you the title (and inspect it) before giving him any money! Also, check that the VIN serial number is the same on the radiator support. The Radiator support should have the serial number part of the vin stamped into it. Also, the vin should be on the Fender tag, and the fender tag codes will tell you the orginal color of the car and some other option codes like axle, engine, transmission, etc. If it is supposed to be "numbers matching" then the engine block and transmission should have the vin serial number stamped on them also (if the Charger was built after 1967?) There is also a serial number stamped on the drivers side rear quarter, but it would be under the trunk weather stripping. I'm not sure about looking up the VIN number by registration because it varies from state to state, and I think it will cost you a few bucks. |
