I have posted this question a couple of times to no eval. I hope someone can help me out this time. I am desperatly trying to find a good rim combo for my 69 coronet. I need to know how big, without rubbing I can go on the front anf how big I can go on the back. I need to know the back spacing. I am looking at the cragar ss rims right now in a 15x10 on the back and I have no idea on the front. Does anyone have any ideas? Please help me! I need the traction for the back and the handling for the front. Someone please help give me some input. Thanks in advance.

Don

Wink

Drakenman this is the tire/wheel combo that is on my Dad's 69 Super Bee. He has American Torque Thrusts. The rear rims are 15x8.5's and a 3.5" backspacing, tires are BFG P275/60R/15's. These are 28" tall, and 10" wide on the face of the tire. They also fill up the wheelwell very nice.
The front rims are 15x6's with a 3" backspacing, tires are BFG P225/70/R15's. These are 26" tall. You might be able to go a little taller but then the tires might also rub on the inner wheelwell a little when turning.
Handling of the car is pretty good considering it is a 32 year old car with all the original front end pieces.
As far as traction, what gears and how much power you make makes a big difference.
Hope this helps.

Thanks so much! This helps alot. The only problem is that i cant seem to find a rim in that kind of backspacing anymore and am very afriad of rubbing the fender or frame in the front. The rear I know I can go very big but the front I am still kind of concerned about. Any more suggestions anyone?

I for got my brother has a 69 Charger tht has Crager SS's the tires are the same sizes as the Bee's but the front rims are 7" with a 4" backspacing, these also fit perfect, just that a 6" rim was not available.

Ahh this is great! Now the front tires have had no problem rubbing during cornering or anything right? So a 15x7 with 4" backspacing in the front? I want to put a little bit bigger tire on the back. Do you know how big I could go? I want this car to get traction in a straight line but also want it to handle well in turns. Can I find a good medium with a tire/rim combo?

Thanks!

Thumbs up

Yup no problem with turning/rubbing. As far as the rear tire goes these are some pretty big street tires any thing bigger and I think you will have to go to a bias ply but thats not what you want. Send me a private message with your e mail address and I will send you a pic of the car with the tires when I get back on Monday. They really do fill up the wheel well.
