Question

I have a 68 charger 440 with a M1 dual plane manifold. I was planning on switching to a performer rpm, but a friend of mine just picked up a similar car that has a performer rpm on it. the hood clearance is tight. Does a M1 single plane sit alittle lower so you can fit an air cleaner on it, or what air cleaners will fit with the performer rpm? any ideas? Thanks I've learned alot from you guys.

i've got the M1, with an 830 holley and the k&n filtercharger 14 inch kit, it is even with my hood...but i've got a hood scoop, so...
k&n makes lots of 'dropped' air cleaners where the element sits lower than usual, but they get in the way of linkage thats not of holley nature.
you can get offset air cleaners just as easily.

as far as how high they are, the M1 is a little taller...its the edelbrock torker II that is higher

Torker II not suppose to be a good manifold, even though that what i have on my 440. Everyone tells me to run M1 or Team G, However I think the Team G is for race only. Just what I heard.

I have a performer rpm w/edel carb and there is very little room left for the filter. Mine is a 71 ebody b-block and the only filter that would fit was a 2 1/8" x 11" K&N. I would prefer a much bigger filter. I switched the carb to a holley yesterday and I am thrilled! Not only did the car LOVE it but I gained another inch of clearence and can now use a drop base as well. Good luck. ps, although you didn't ask the performer rpm works real well. <><
