Im looking for advice on what size headers to run on my 440 1 3/4, 1 7/8, or 2 inch primarys it is going to make some where in the 400 hp range when finished plus a 125 shot of nos. Also whos headers do you guys feel has the best fit.

Skip the 2". They will cause you all sorts of headache with your combo.

1 3/4" primaries would be fine with a stock 440 but since you mentioned nitrous, better go with 1 7/8". Heavier cars benefit from primaries that are longer and have a smaller diameter. I'm currently running Hooker Super Comps. They fit pretty well and plug access is excellent. This issue has been discussed at great length on this forum, run a search for "headers" and you ought to find all kinds of different opinions.

I'm going to say 1-3/4 and get a pair of 2-3/4 collectors. You may not agree but before you call me crazy log on to www.headersbyed.com
This guy has been building and testing headers and header designs since the early '60's. He knows what he's talking about! And on an engine package like your's the above recs. should make max power and torque. |
