Any ideas about this one? the ears on the pump where the torque cunverter goes is my problem. I have broke those 2 tabs off twice this year and as u know tranny pump won't work. I do not run a mid plate.

2 different reasons I know of:1st if you dont get the converter fully engaged in the pump before start up,this snaps the pump drive teeth right off destroying the pump, proper engagement is 1" recessed from bellhousing leading edge.2nd is that for some reason your converter snout is overengaging or underengaging, usually overengaging breaks the pump as the snout rams the pump face and under breaks the snout/teeth,to check unbolt your 4 flexplate to converter bolts, then move your converter in and out, there is a spec which Ive had but I dont remember it,I had to call MP to get it,you could also just measure another trans that doesnt have this problem so you may have to shim your coverter out away from the flexplate(hopefully) if its too far in youll need a different flexplate of sorts ,its also possible you have a distorted flexplate too..........PRO........

Just one more thing to consider is the possibility of the pump binding inside the pump cover. You may need to closely inspect the pump rotor and the inside of the pump cavity for any signs of binding. You should be able to move the pump pretty freely once it's all assembled.
