Question

My friend has a 8.75 rearend from a 69 Road Runner. Will this work in a 71 Demon? Does it need to be modified?

This would not be a good swap in the Demon Because the Road Runner rear end is 54.5" form flange to flange and the spring seats are 44". And the Demon is 51.4" and 43". I would keep looking around for the right A-Body rear end.

Well, that of course is the traditional answer, but depending on what wheel you're going to run, you might think about the B body rearend. One nice thing is it gives you the big bolt pattern. Then you can put big discs on the front and have the 4.50 pattern all around.

If you're going to run a modern wheel design then what you want is a lot of offset. Having the wider rear end sets you up for running a wheel with a lot of offset. A Mustang Cobra R wheel would probably fit just about perfect.

Wink No big deal!

My big block car ('71 Swinger) had a '69 Road Runner rear in it when I bought it. It is not that big a deal having the extra width under the car. If you want wide wheels under it, you just gotta buy a different offset. One of the Mopar rags even did an article on the B-body swap a few years ago, because the A-body rears are kinda hard to find. Remember, the '68 Hemi S/S cars had B-body rears under them.
