i couldnt help but notice in stock form ( stock rod and crank length) the 383 had a better rod stroke ratio (about 1.88) compared to the ford 289(1.79) that should mean it can wind higher if it can continue to breathe. i also noticed if you put 440 rods in a 383 you get a ratio of about 2:1. with a stock rod and stroke 383 whats the redline? what would increase it?

I'm not sure what stock was. But to increase the redline of the engine, a change in cam and its related components (springs) will raise it up. Also, the breathing abily of the heads are good. When you port them out a little, they get better. If you install a larger valve, it gets better still.
Also, the weight of the rotateing assembly can be lightened to rev faster and higher.
The intake manifold can be change out to breath into a higher RPM. Now that it can breath in, breathing out is next, via headers. Small tube headers designed for the street will able to work better and easyer. This will free up a few RPM's. A big tube header will allow more of what the street header started to do.

BECAREFUL..on how you assemble your parts together. Miss matching components and poor matching of compresion CAN and WILL result in a SLOWER CAR!!
Decide on what and/or how fast you want your car to go first before doing anything!! MAKE A PLAN AND STICK TO IT!!!!
