Default How can I make my A/C blow harder?

I want my A/C vents to blow harder in my 68 Charger. The air coming out is ice cold, so thats good. I know the old mopars never blew very hard to begin with. What can I do to get it up to todays standards? By the way, all the ductwork is hooked up properly. Any ideas guys?

The only way is to find a blower motor that will fit and will spin the blower fan faster.

First I would make sure the air box is not clogged with debris from leafs, etc.
Second, I would test the blower motor circuit resistance. Bypassing the wiring in the dash and connect the motor directly to the battery (also make sure it has a good ground connection) to see if the blower motor blows harder? If it does, I wouldn't bother messing with the dash wiring and switches (if they currently work) I would install a power relay activated by the original wiring.
If the airbox is clear, and the wiring is good, then maybe you can find a better blower motor?
Serching the web I found a place that specalizes in auto A/C systems. They have replacement parts and retro-fit kits for the newer freon.
I don't know the name, the information is at home, but it was in Arizona

68Charger, they don't blow HARD, but they move a big volume, when they're working right. After lo, these many years, your blower motor's bearings have got to be shot. Get a new hi-efficency fan(with ball bearings if you can find one) and you'll be amazed. And don't forget to clean out your evaporator too. I think Resto-Air is the company that has the things you need. Check a Mopar Muscle mag, they usually have an ad.

I too am looking for a more powerful fan as I rebuild my A/C and Heat. If you have the contact information for Resto-Air (I couldn't find one of their ads) or luck finding a fan somewhere else I would appreciate the info.

Thanks,

Chrios

::bangs head against desk:: I should have known that was the company being referred to, I just ordered their small block R134a kit with new compressor, etc. I was unaware they had high efficency fans though, how do you think it would compare to a stock replacement?

Well, dang it! this ole fart was close! Really the new fans use the tech in the fan in your 'puter; brushless, ball bearings, super powerful magnets. They can move A LOT more air for the same amp draw. One thing I found on a Ferd, the new fans may only be ONE SPEED! But they sell a solid state motor speed control for about$50, and then you have infinite speeds on the fan. There is (was?) a place in Nevada that I got my cousins' Ferd fan from.
