Default 1973 340 Torque Conv. on a 360??

I have a 1973 340 Torque Conv. and i recently got a 360 motor
without a torque converter i know i can't use a 318 converter
for one engine being Externally balanced and other internally
My cousin has a 360 Torque converter but it has a sticker on it
that says LO STALL i figured this torque converter would'nt go
over to well? it will have a stock 360 cam. But the only thing i wanted to know is if the 73 340 Torque converter would work
i could'nt remeber if they are balanced like a 318 or 360
but i was thinking more along the lines of a 318 but the motor
i took the 340 torque conv. off of had a big thick harmonic balancer and Cast crank and i know the 360 is the same way so please any answers appreciated!

I think all the 340's were still internally ballanced like the 318 (they have the same stroke.) I think MP sells a torque converter ballance weight kit that shows where to install the weights on a normal torque converter to work with the 360, or you cam put the special B&M flexplate on the 360 and used the normal ballanced converters.

Exclamation Wrong!

The 1973 340 was externally balanced, similar to the 360 but a totally different "unbalance". You can remove the weight from the 340 converter (or have it balanced) and then add the B&M 360 flex plate or have the whole assembly balanced together.

This sounds like a recipe for a huge vibrator. You're girl friend might like the car though.

Default Convertor

all 360 motors are all externally balanced. I just orderd a converter today for my 360 crate motor. It is a coan convertor. they sell the flex plate that is already pre balanced. It was 75 bucks and Summit is the same price. I strongly recmond that you use the flex plate cause it is a lot easyer then the weights. And if you use a 10in or smaller convertor u have to get the plate. Hope this helps.
