Question

I have a 69' 727 tranny, It is leaking from inside the bellhouse area. I thought it was leaking at the front seal, So I pulled the tranny and replaced the seal. I looked it over pretty well looking for cracks or other problem areas. The converter is a TCI aftermarket stall type .And looks ok, The drain was not leaking. Well I put it back together pured in some fluid, started it up and it still leaks. It leaks the same as before pretty bad. any ideas?? Thanks.

Cool

Yes I did, When the car is sitting at an idle. I can look under the car and see the fluid running out from under the torque converter. That is why I thought it was the front seal. Thanks though!

beesixpack, if the leak started immediatley after a convertor swap, I would think front pump seal. If the leak occurrs after a hard run, I would think it is ventting foam due to overfilling. If it just started leaking and leaks all the time, then either the seal or pump gasket. If it is the seal, the back of the convertor will be well oiled. If it is the pump gasket, then the convertor is not as likely to be oiled.

Cool

Thanks, The converter was not real wet on the back side when I pulled it. I will pull the tranny back out and replace the pump gasket. I should have done it at the same time I changed the front seal. But I thought the seal would fix my problem. Good thing I like to work on my old Bee. Thanks again!
