Default What can you tell me about a Detriot Locker?

Awhile back I bought a 8 3/4 form Randy's ring and pinion it was complete 430 gear 489 case,I was told it has a Detriot locker in it,if so how well will this stand up behind a mild 400HP 383 witha 727 3000 stall converter.Just want to know how much I can abuse this car.

I don't think you can break a Detroit Locker with any engine you can drive on the street! Your U-joints and torque tube will go first.

How did they treat you at Randy's? I will be in the market for approx the same setup, thinking about switching to a Dana 60? Do you race your car at Lebanon? Curious to know what your running as I have the same basic components! Can you tell me what they charged? Please send me an email if you don't wish to post it here. Bring your ride up to Torrington any fri nite there is a cruise in at Macdonalds, we need more Mopars there! ps, you'd need about 800hp and a 4 speed to break that thing, walker is right, its the other things that will break. <><

It's a mild 383 in a 67 notchback Cuda, cars running 13.2 102 right now, been told it should run 12.6 just the way it is,still working on a race setup in the distirbuor, today,.Hope to be up at Lebanon this wednesday night for street night. I have a traction problem with those bf goodrich drag radials, I do test and tune at Lebanon not to often. Will try and make that cruise.
Randy,s was,I thought, very good very professional, they know there stuff.Expensive about $960.00 for the unit assembled and shipped 3,000 miles in about a week,Went right in the car no problems.Absolutly no noise.
I'm 49 and just started drag racing, should say test and tuning,it keeps me off the streets.

theyre pretty simple actually, they have gears that are pushed against each other and lock up when power is given on a straightaway...but when you go into a turn they fall away from each other saving your tires
