The "A" is where it was built; my '69 RR is
RM23H9GXXXXXX

the "G" being St. Louis I believe. Like JERICOGTX says, the other codes can be broken down like this:

R = Plymouth intermediate chassis (Satellite/RR/GTX/Belvedere)

M = middle price range (Satellite/RR)

2 = 2-door

3 = hardtop

H = 335-horse 383 (Road Runner/Super Bee only)

9 = 1969

G = St. Louis (I don't recall where the A is for)

The rest is a sequential number which is unique to your car. What identifies yours as a Road Runner is the H. Every Road Runner starts with RM2 because they are all Plymouth 2-door intermediates. Not everything that starts with RM2 is a Road Runner though; it has to have the H engine code for the hi-po 383 or it's just a Satellite. (Or if you're lucky you'll have the Hemi or 440/6 code instead of the H ) By default, if it has the "H" code it WILL start with RM2 since ALL rr's are RM2's and ONLY rr's came with the H code.

Default What's the "P"?

What would the "P" engine/horsepower code stand for as in this 1972 RoadRunner with VIn RM23P2R.....
