Shake and Roll
Hi,
I have a 66cuda 273 2bbl. Idle is steady at 19in. vac. A liitle past idle it shakes and rolls. It becomes steady with a liitle more pedal. I believe the points are close to correct. Any suggestions as to what is wrong? Bill |

Make sure the points are set right, not just close. I think a dwell meter is better than a feeler gauge for setting points because the dwell angle will change as the cam in the distributor wears even if point gap is correct. Once thats done, set the timing to spec then adjust the carb. Since idle mixture effects transitional fuel metering, try richening the idle mixture adjustment slightly and see if the stumble goes away. Also, check the throttle shaft to see if it's sloppy in the carb base. A vacuum leak around the throttle shaft makes it difficult to get a consistent mixture adjustment.
