Unhappy head porters beware!

I dont know how but i did it. I managed to get a peice of metal in my eye with safty glasses on while porting a set of 587's. I think i may have had some metal on my fingers and rubbed my eyes. NOT FUN. I just got back from the eye doctor. Nothing a metal probe and 35 dollars couldn't fix. Oh another thing, does anyone know if the air pump heads flow better on the exaust side when ported than the non air pump hole heads ported? The air pump heads have a lot more short side radius on the exaust ports. Just wondering.

It's just amazing how things get around regular safety glasses. When doing things like grinding, I usually wear full safety goggles.

ALWAYS keep a magnet handy! A couple are even better. The little screwdriver handle magnets are ok for bits in tight spots, while a big speaker magnet comes in handy for those mass invasions of particles. If you do it enough, your sweat will rust too, lol! Be very very careful when porting aluminum, it comes off in needles and magnets don't work!

Bummer. I use a full face sheild and gloves when doing porting. The sheild keeps the shavings off your face so it is harder to knock junk into your eyes and it also helps keep the dust out of your nose and mouth. One of the better tools (Personal Protection Equipemnt) for $15

Never got stuff in my eye but once was hammering on something and bam, all of a sudden blood started squirting out of the top of my hand between the thumb and index finger. It would squirt about two feet with every beat of my heart, squirt, squirt, so I musta hit an artery. Got it xrayed and sure enough, a tiny spear of metal was and is in there.

Cool YIKES!!

Thank God I have never been hurt with all the crazy and "not thinking" things I have done.
My boss lost an eye because he wasn't using safety glasses when he was pulling a nail out with a crow bar. That's right; a sliver of metal came off the nail and embedded in his right eye.
He ended up blind in that eye.
Always think about safety boys!
