65 318 wedge cam into a 74 318?
just wondering if the 318 max wedge cam would go into a 74 318, if so, any performance boosts or will it just be stock.....
just a little side project |

also, the reason i am doing this is the cam on the 318 is fragged, it has tons of flat spots, mushroomed lifters and i am pretty sure this was caused by the heads that were on it, i have new reman heads for the 318, and overall everything else seems good...would the crank out of the wedge work too? and what exactly is a 318 wedge...is it a poly? or is it just a wider intake...thank you

318 Poly vs. 318 Wedge
The cams do not interchange since the valves are in a different order in the heads. This would mess up the firing order. I believe that the crank, rods, and maybe the pistons will interchange. The block, heads, and manifolds are all different. The old 318 had a "polyspherical" combustion chamber, the intake valves are at one angle and the exhaust are at another. The later "wedge" 318s had all the valves in line with each other. The terms come from the description of the combustion chamber, wedge, poly, Hemi, etc.
