Question small block visual

hey guys
I have a 71 340 block
I am wondering b4 I send it in to have it checked for cracks
where should I consentrate on a visual inspection
it is a bare block with the main caps
I have no other info on it other than my dad had it since the late 70s early 80s
if it checks out I want to do a stroker
before I send it in I want to check it out first
where should I look

Thanx

ive seen them crack several places, obviously the cyl. wall, around the freeze plugs, around the main bolts, and in the lifter valley, ive seen a 340 block with a big roller cam bust the valley so bad the lifters rocked in their bores.

Post LOOK!

Diffenitely look in the lifter area for problems thats the worst spot. Mancini has those new 4" cast cranks cheap, to make a stroker a 340 limit is in the main web area 600-650 hp will do the block in so be careful. I've heard of some people going over and it living but thats like playing with fire.
