I'm thinking of putting a stroker crank in a 440, probably just buy a kit and be done with it. Problem is, I don't have any idea what would be a good setup. It's for a 4x4 truck that I'll be doing a bit of slalom racing with.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

440 strokers typically are either a 4.150 stroke or a 4.250 stroke but of course you can do anything your checkbook will allows. Visit the KB piston web site for some piston options. MP sells stroker cranks as do some other folks. Stock rods and cast iron heads will work okay for a lower rpm truck type motor, aluminum heads usually warrant aftermarket rods.

Check out the kits from Muscle motors or Hale Performance. They sell their kits already balanced which saves you bucks. I know Hale did sell a kit that ran the Mopar .484 cam and made 508hp and torque that was awesome! It was meant to be a street motor from the git-go. Lots of options out there, check them out.

I would check out Muscle Motors also, they helped me out a great deal when building the 440 for my 4x4. It now maked in the 500hp area with a roller cam!! Also what this Slalom racing with trucks? Never heard of it. Mud drags, sand drag, tuff truck, that about it up here.
here is their web sites, they have kits listed: http://www.musclemotorsracing.com/ ------------------ Mopar_Mudder http://mopar.rockcrawler.com |

Thanks guys, I'll look there.
The slalom is the same as your tough truck competition. There are also 200' sand drags. How long are the drags for you? |

Same 200', only it is in Mud. The sand drags haven't hit up here yet.

Hey Guys,
Another place that sells a stroker kit is Speed-O-Motive in California. They sell a 450(451) stroker kit for $895.00 with crank, rods with arp bolts, bearings, KB 215 pistons, but add $115.00 for balancing & $195.00 for a steel crank. Just another option for you guys to look at, Later. www.speedomotive.com |

I would definately go with Muscle Motors. I bought my first stroker kit from Hale and once they had my money they were no help. Eventually sent it to Muscle Motors after I wanted to go faster. They were a great help.
