Greetings. I want to swap out a 318/904 combination for a 360 crate motor and a 727 in a '70 barracuda. The 360 seems straight forward, except that it is externally balenced. I think this means the flexplate has to be different from a standard 318 flexplate. Also, how do you locate it with respect to the flywheel?

Youll need a 360 balanced torque converter for a 904,they are easily available or you can buy the converter weight set from mp and weld on the weights,it come with complete directions, also the flex plate has a oneway bolt pattern so you dont have to locate it yourself, when all 4 converter to flex plate bolts line up your good to go,theyre are 2 sizes of flex plates so dont let that fool you,you can use either as it doesnt matter as long as your converter bolt pattern matches up to the one your using....PRO...

Hi, i went the other way. I got a new balanced flex plate for my 727 and a new neutral converter. I wanted a higher stall anyway. I am using the TCI Sat Night Spec, 300 over. I have the 360/300 crate, 727, 3.55, in a Lil Red Ex. 4 days and counting. I got an EdelB 600 performer, needs some tuning . I was changing out an LA 360, used the starter and air cleaner, everything else is new. Fabricated alt brackets, but AC and PS bolted right up. Good luck. i have more data on my swap if ya want it, e-mail me or ask here.
