Default heads

I have a friend, actually a member of my local car club, who is need of a set of heads that seem to be hard to find. He has a '66 Dodge Coronet 500 w/ a 361 that has problems with exhaust studs as well as bolt holes for the intake. If we can find another set, he can have those cleaned up and replace the bad ones. We're also looking for a set of valve covers for the same heads to replace the set the exhaust shop tore. His have been welded back for now, but they're still not right. Any one w/ the heads or covers for sale? Is there another set that's interchangable?

The same heads fit 64-67 361 & 383 engines. The casting number is 2406516, These have closed chambers with 2.08 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves. Although other bb Mopar heads will physically fit, you'll need to find a set of closed chamber heads to maintain the correct compression ratio. Valve covers won't be too hard to find. Except for the pre-64 versions, any big block valve cover will interchange. Good luck...

If they are compatable to some big blocks, then what about the 906's that are in my closet?

Default 906 Heads

Sure, the 906 heads will work, but you will lose some compression ratio with the larger chamber. Maybe with today's gasoline, it might help. Try it and if you lose too much performance, look for some more 516s.

I have an entire disasembled 361 from a 66 satalitte I used to own out in my shed...i'll see what shape the valve covers are in and if I still have those heads or not if you are interested (unless you decide to run the 906's)

OZHEMI- It would be great if you still had those. What area are you in? I'm in SoCal. Can you e-mail me with details for shipping?

I've got a set of 516 heads that I just pulled off my 440... I went with a set of 906's instead (Milled .080)....
I have no use for them other than taking up space... Let me know if you need some 516's....(They were supposed to be 915's but after looking at the casting numbers... They are 516's...)
