The best trans temp
what is the best fluid temperature for a trans to have while driving? What temperature will it start to do damage?

Cooler the better my freind. Do you run a cooler in front of the radiator? It would be good on a stock ride or a hotrod.

Just to throw some #'s at you my tq727 was running at 200deg and would climb to 210 when abused. After installing 12" x 12" cooler it now runs at 135-150. I am concerned that my sending unit is in a bad place because those #'s were so low. I may replumb as it does get a huge amount of air blowing on it under the rad. Perhaps transfixleo will respond! <><

The trans cooler I have is in front of the radiator and is rated for 22,000-24,000 GVW. My temp sender is mounted close to the transmission. My temp is always runs about 160 even when my water temp is about 200. I ran the line into the rad first then out to the cooler then back to the tranny. I'm just curious to see if that is good or fair. thanks for the replys. plmczy
