Hey guys. I need help with this one. I just replaced the 727 in my 73 Duster. I lost all forward gears, which means the rear clutch went south. however before that it had a bad leak in the converter area. It would pour out with the car running. I swapped in another tranny out of a van. At first the tranny had no leaks. I drove it to work this morning (50 miles), and now it also leaks er pours out of the converter area. During the swap I looked at the converter and it was dry. What could be leaking. would two trannys have the same problem or is the engine somehow causing the leaks. Also would it be a pump shaft seal? I'm stumped on this. Tranny swaps in an A-body are not fun. I don't want to put a new gasket in it and have it start leaking in another 50 miles. Any info would be most helpful. Thanks guys. This sucks as I'm trying to get this up as a daily driver. I hate having to add tranny fluid every morning. Thanks again.

It would sound like the input shaft seal. If the tranny had been sitting for a long period of time, before it was run, the seal may have dried up. After running it, it would have cracked and started leaking.

OK lets says that if I replace the seal and it leaks again. (Looing on the worst side or things) could it be a bent flex plate. This is the second tranny with the same leak in this car. Now It could just be a dried up seal. I have no idea how long the tranny has been sitting. Is that seal hard to replace? Is it real hard to relpace without the factory tools? Thanks again
