Lightbulb early hemi

I have a line on a 315/325 hemi and wondered if it would fit in my 64 valiant. Anybody with any info would be appreciated. Was informed that these early hemis have almost the same outside dimensions as a small block?

I do not think the mounts are the same. For sure the trans will not fit and for sure if the Valient was a 6.

If I remember right, the 315/325 is the Dodge version of the Hemi. I have heard that the Chrysler versions have parts that interchange with the LA series engines, for example motor mounts and bellhousing which is what one is concerned with when swapping engines. I am not sure about the Dodge versions however... Also the Chrysler hemis are definitely much larger than an LA. This is mostly due to the heads.

That motor will be a tight fit in your Valiant, it is a LOT wider than an LA engine. You definately won't be able to run power steering, the steering sector is too big. 318 motormount brackets will work with a little modification. The smallblock trannys will physically bolt up to the early hemi's, but you have to use the adapter setup (approx. $300) because the crank flange on the early hemi's stuck out past the back of the block further, and the torque converters indexed off of the outside edge of the crank flange rather than the hole in the center of the flange.
