I have a 72 Satellite 318 auto
with a shot Carter carb
The only mods are dual exhaust. I can pick up a NIB holley 500 2 barrel real cheap.
I NEVER race the car, just a daily driver
Is this too much carb for my engine and application ??
Thanks for any advice
Fred..

Never have used it, but have heard on numerous occassions that it is a very good choice as an upgrade. Hope this helps.

This carb is really just half of a Holley double pumper. It won't fit directly on the 318 intake either. My guesstimation is that fuel economy will not increase and driveability will be poor.

This question is right up my alley. I use the holley 500 on my race truck. Except for jet changes the carb is stock. Chris I know the info you give is excellent, but this time I disagree. I think the carb would be very driveable on th street, easy to tune, and it would take an adapter plate to get it to bolt on.

No problem with any disagreement here!! I have never used this carb, only rebuilt a few.You have the actual experience with it.It just seems like a lot of carb for a stock 318,and maybe a bit of trouble to put one on instead of using a rebuilt stocker.Just my humble opinion.
