Default Need help with Wiring

Ok heres the problem..Yes we have another problem. We have 12 volts going to the coil. Coil is a MSD Blaster 2. The coil gets so hot you cant touch it. We already blew one a part last week.

Heres everything that is new. Resistor, Regulator, Computer, Coil.

Took the car to summit today coil didnt get hot going up. Coming home after it sat up their for about a half hour it hot to here you can even touch it. And just as we pulled into the drive you could start to smell it the acid burning on the inside. Everything has been checked and re checked.

Everyone told us to go to a dual balloist. We did. And its still sending 12 volts to the coil. Was hopeing to have the car at the track tomarrow.

Anyone has a solution or has had this problem?

This may sound dumb, but is it wired correctly? A coil will work out of phase. Sounds like you should be getting less volts than that to the + side.

check this too. Primary to Primary (positive terminal to negative terminal)......... 1.24-1.46 ohms. This is a "points type" coil value. A transistor style coil, like a Hi Po style would have a value like 0.41-0.51 ohms (high amp 7.5, hi voltage 30K+)

Everything is wired like the cheltons book says. We couldnt get the car to start anyother way besides the way they say to. Your souposed to get no more than 7 volts going to the coil. Our convertable is set up the same way. But with a singe ballist. But has the stock coil in it. We have wired the hard top the same way as the cheltons book and followed the same way the convertable is wired. No problems with the convertable. Just with the hardtop.

Default check the feed

I had a customer who put his own electronic ignition kit on his small block truck + I had to put a diode in the feed wire to the ECU + the ballast to keep his ignition from feeding back into the starter system + causing the ballast, the coil + the ECU from heating up.
