Beware of Strange e-mails with attachments!
In case anyone here hasn't heard, there is a new e-mail virus, possibly 2, around, apparently this one gets into Outlook Express, and copies itself, then sends itself to everyone in your address book. So if someone you have been in contact with gets it, you could easily be sent an e-mail, with an attachment, with a plausible topic on it, most likely the last thing you spoke to that person about. Just remember, if you get any e-mail with an attachment, DON'T OPEN IT!!!!!
Unless you know for certain it's safe. Opening the e-mail is safe, opening the attachment isn't. I've gotten 3 so far from eBay contacts, as well as 2 more from other sources, and I'm not a large e-mail sender. Main thing is keep your eyes open, if it has an attachment, and the person who sent it to you had no real reason to be sending you a file. DELETE IT! Anyone else with better info, please jump in. |

Coming from someone who gets paid to be safe. . .
There are several ways to be safe:
1. Get an e-mail server with Norton Anti-Virus Server Ed. (costly, but extremely effective. Zero's out and strips the virus coding. When you get the e-mail w/ the virus it'll say that a virus was detected and it was stripped.) 2. Install a reputable Virus scanner on you computer (I like Norton) and keep it up to date ALWAYS! 3. NEVER open an e-mail if you don't know who it's from. Delete it immediately. And don't just delete it to where it go's in the "trash," PERMANENTLY delete it. Outlook users can use SHIFT/Delete to permanently delete something. But, this does permanently delete something so be careful using this. 4. If you do have a Virus Scanner on you computer, USE IT! Scan all attachments before opening them. 5. Be aware of what Viruses are out there. If you want to, go to the Symantec website. More info later. |

Actually, the best way to be safe is not to buy anything with "Microsoft" written on it.
