I'd use the small tube headers from Hooker. Although I hate when Headers hang under the front end linkage.
The larger tube units are a little expensive and lose bottom end torque.
Thrers a company called TTI that has gotten a lot of attention. Check them out as well. www.ttiexhaust.com www.holley.com ( then click on Hooker headers)

Bad news on the early A-body. There are only a few headers that I know of that fit. The Dakota shorty headers, Spitfire, and the Hooker Super Comps (fenderwell) headers.

The Spitfire headers are to y's with two exits that come very close to the trans linkage and kickdown. I am not sure about the fit and how tight it is.

I think the way to go is with the Dakota shorty headers. I think they are around $210-$225 + shipping. Internet Auto has them, but I don't have their address off hand.

The Hooker Supercomps are nice, but they are fenderwell. I hate fenderwell headers, but that is up to you to decide.

PRO knows a lot about the header set up on the early A-body cars. His is a '65 Valiant with a 360 4 speed.

Thumbs up

What’s wrong with fender dumps? Other than cutting a hole in the fender well, and a minor front tire problem, they are great! They cool way fast, and you can remove them in about 5 min total time. I’ve had the others and won’t go back. In fact I had a set made for my 66 Da

JN, what kind of Fenderwells do you have that can be removed in 5 minutes?? My '65 A Supercomps are in 7 pieces, and the thought of removing them gives me the sweats!! The instructions recommend the front be raised 30 inches for installation, those are some tall jackstands!
