Speaker position, please advise.
I'm going to have a stereo and front/rear speakers installed on my 68 Satellite. The problem is with the front speakers. To obtain true stereo sound, I was advised that placing them where the factory center speaker was wouldn't sound too good, even if I turn them in opposite directions. My only other options are to cut and place them inside the front door panels (which I don't want to do), or somehow mount them under the dash.
Any suggestions for some other alternative? Many thanks. |

Is there room for custom kick panel enclosures? I'm not familiar with the interior of your car.

Your best bet would be to mount them in the door. The best place for the sound you want.

Factory vents?
Does your car have them?
I've installed speakers in the factory vent holes in some older cars. You have to seal the rear side of the speakers, and make a custom front mounting face but other than that it's easy.A good thing about this is you cann't tell the speakers are there, the bad thing is you must remove the vents. |

go with the center
If your concerned with cutting up the car you'll have to play with capacitors to control the sound but if you do it right you can create a nice sounding car,But to create true stereo sound go with custom made kick panels(get some worn out old kick panels + get a set of kicks made from fiberglass by your local stereo shop if they do custom audio).
