Default Infinity Kappa Perfect 10" Subwoofers

I need to know about these, as I'm going to be ordering some to put into my MTX Thunderform box that's in the back of my ram.

The Current MTX 10" subs are going into my Stealth.

well if you are using the two ten box for a extended cab the infinitys will not fit in the box, due to depth. thats why MTX doesn't install 8000 series MTX subs in them.

The only way you could get it to work is if you make mounting rings to make up the distance. The extended depth may make the subs not fit under the box.

Yes, like 98RamSS/T said, the Kappa's wont fit in the MTX thunderform box due to the depth of the box. The Kappa's magnet and basket are bigger and longer than MTX's 6000 series that came in the box. Im guessing your speakers shoot up to the bottom of your back seat right? Well, with spacer rings, you might push the speaker more up into the bottom of the seat and block out all purposes of having the speakers. It would muffle the sound(sound shitty) and will put strain on your voice coil. If you still insist on changing to the Kappa's, you would be better off getting a custom made box that fits under your back seat. All of this info, is for if you have an ext. cab. If you have a reg cab and the box is behind your back rest, you should have no problems using spacers in the box. But beware, spacers can leak, so seal them good!!

I think I'll get a custom Box then .

Do you guys have any experiance with them?

Are they good subs in comparison to other brands/makes?

Measure the mounting depth you have available with your current box and get back with me. I may have some alternatives that would outperform the Kappas and still fit. Is the thunderforms box sealed?

I used to have two 12" kappa perfects and they sounded good. The are geared toward songs with bass though. They have a huge Xmax(cone travel) so they require alot of power. You should be very happy with them. Make sure your box is built correctly and to the proper specs of the woofer.

Ok, good, I need stuff geared towards bass

Also, I'm wondering what would be good for sensetivaty?

I'm looking to be playing mostly rock (newer bassy stuff though) with very very limited rap/hiphop when other people may want to listen to it (pop will not be played in my truck), but I'm also wondering if they will pump with some older stuff as well, such as Guns n' Roses, and AC/DC.

I'm thinking of taking 2 10" Kappa's, and maybe 1 10" of some other brand or something infinity has that's more sensative, if they aren't sensetive enough for older hard rock.

This way I'll have the best of both worlds .

I take it that when you say sensitive, you mean clear or accurate? Speakers have a sensitivity rating that will tell you how much output it will produce with a given input.

Check out the Lambda PL series that are available at www.stryke.com. They are easily the most accurate 10" avaiable and with 14mm of Xmax, they can boom with the best of them.

You play too? Sweet I play mostly guitar, and Bass.

And I'm happy to hear about that with the Kappa Perfects .

And for my custom box, I'm wondering how I should have it set up.

I'm thinking one angled up, and one angled down.

I'm thinking of possibly getting 2 8's (1 to put against the rear seat, and one against the front passanger's seat, or the bench).

Just to have a couple of "thunder" seats like my friend has got hehe.

That's something for later though.

Bad ass, you play guitar? Were going into the studio this weekend. Let me know and i'll send you a copy of our cd. Its modern music. We have an alternative sound. Check out our website at the bottom of my signature. What ever speakers you choose, 8' or 10's, have them shooting the floor. You would get the best sound out of them!!

Maybe it's kind of like a "Great minds think alike" thing, in this case, great minds have similar interests (like Dodge Rams for example).

hehe.

Well how do the Kappa Perfects sound when listening to rap? Im gonna get a Dak R/T RC soon and I want one behind the driver and one behind the passenger, or since I like the seat back alll the way, I might put one 8 behind driver and one 12 behind the passenger. Any thoughts??

Dude, the Kappa Perfects are like their name describes them. PERFECT! Excellent low bass and sound pretty bad ass. If I was you, I would just get 2-12's. I wouldnt go with an 8&12 for this reason. The 12 will overpower the 8 and the 8 will serve no purpose. So just go with 2-12's

If I were in your position, I would probably get these.

http://www.stryke.com/SAL10PFPHN.html

10" sub with 14mm of xmax, copper faraday ring (reduced distortion), underhung VC (reduced distortion).

Arguably, the best 10" on the market at any price. It should go a little lower then the Perfect with much less distortion.
