Question

Ok, I need your help again, does anybody know what kind of transmission my car has with the 273 motor, it is a 3 speed auto?
And secondly I am doing a disc brake conversion and I got the parts off a 74 Dart and I want to get a master cylinder and pads but the places I look online want to know if its 15/16 or 1 1/32,what does this mean?

The dimensions mean the master cylinder piston diameter; I think the smaller is for brakes without booster and the bigger is for booster. Your trans is a TF 904. The older transmissions like yours are somewhat different than the newer ones; the converters will not swap, the shifters are cable type, and perhaps it doesn't even have a slip yoke in the rear. Your best bet would be switching to a '68 or newer 904. The best ones were used behind 360's and I would find a pre '78 one, or a later non lock up if you can find one. You have to change the shifter and the driveshaft too.

The 727 is longer than the 904. It's also heavier, slower and bigger than the 904. It's also more reliable and should stand forever behind a 318. However, the performance will suffer. So, you need a shorter driveshaft. Your trans tunnel is also propably too small for the 727, so you need to do some hammering; it's a tight fit. At least hammer the body seam in the trans tunnel flat before even attempting to install it. The '65 shifter is cable operated and the '66 and newer are lever operated. Your original trans has two different cables, one for the gears and one for the park lock; I don't know how to make the stock shifter work with the newer style trans. Either use an aftermarket shifter or one from a '66 Valiant or Dart. This is unless your 727 is a '65. You also need a 727 converter and propably the flexplate too.

I bought a 727 TCI street fighter. From what everybody has told me it sounds like it wont fit right. I see TCI has a 904LU, it shows an application for 82 and up. I bought this from JEGS. What does the LU mean? Will this trans work, because I can send the 727 back.

I think TCI should carry also a non lock up 904, that on my opinion would be your best choice, least hassle. If it isn't in JEGs catalog it doesn't mean they don't have one; call and ask.
