About to buy a new shortblock. Already have ported heads with oversize valves. Are MPs adjustable pushrods any good? Is there a better method of getting to the correct pushrod length?

There's always adjustable rockers. I think their easier to adjust than the pushrods. You can also shim the rocker shafts. Mancini racing still sells these shims.

What kinds of things are you going to change that you need adjustable pushrods ( 'shrods ) ? Given the quality problems I've heard about from MP, I wouldn't buy much from them. The Summit racing catalog has both adjustable rockers, and non-adjustable 'shrods for hydraulic and solid lifters and adjustable or non rockers.

Tim_K,
Just figured that with the heads and block being shaved (albeit slightly) that it would make it necessary. Is that true?

That depends on the total amount shaved. The adjustable rockers are a better choice. Get them instead of the P-rods. The rollers would be even better!

Yes the adjustable rockers are the best idea. If you don't want them buy ONLY the Smith Bros. adjustable pushrods! They make the best. They will also make any length rod if you give them a dimension.

....However, I have used the MP adjustable pushrods in a hydraulic cammed '451' and they worked OK. The couple of last times I have had to deal with the preload because of milling, I have just shortened the stock pushrods. There has not been any drawbacks so far.
