Question headers

HI IHAVE BEEN RUNNING STRAIGHT HOME BUILT HEADERS OUT OF THE HOOD ON A MUD BOGGING TRUCK. THESE ARE WITHOUT COLLECTORS. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MANY PEOPLE THIS LEANS MIXTURE. IS THERE ANY TRUTH TO THIS? IF SO PLEASE EXPLAIN.THE ENGINE IS 360 STROCKER EDEL. HEADS

It's pretty simple: with a carbureted system, less backpressure in the exhaust makes the carb run leaner. With your basically zero backpressure exhaust system, the carb will run noticeably leaner than it would if you had mufflers or even a full length header system with no muffs. This is why whenever you make a change in your exhaust system your carb jetting usually needs to be changed.
