Default Can someone give me numbers stamped on 509 cam

Hi I bought a used Mopar 509 cam kit at swap meet.I need to double check that it's really a 509 cam. Does anyone have this cam handy? So they could give me the numbers stamped on end of cam. Also I have the old lifters[marked and numbered] but I was thinking of of using new lifters. Is it ok to do. Thanks Tim

New liffters are a good idea. Purchase one solid lifter. The solid unit is good to have hanging around for things like your question. Use a degree wheel to figure out the cam size.
To figure, install cam, chain & sprockets, driver side head (NO PLUGS) tappet, correct pushrod (I say correct because of the different liffter. A Hyd. P-rod won't work right), rocker arm.
You'll be installing the cams center line (Like MoPar says to do at this point as well as figureing out cam size)
The duration of the cam is a math equastion <SP> (I know) that goes as followed.
Tappet rise @ .050 happens @ 30 degress BTDC and closes @ 50 degrees ATDC + 180 = 260.
Degree open + degree closed + 180 = duration @ .050.
I don't know what spec Mopar uses for the advertised duration.
Duration @ .050 for the 292 cam is ...292 X ,850 = 248.2
MoPar said to use .850 to calculate duration @ .050

If you call the Mopar tech line they will ask you what color of paint dabs are on the cam. They have no numbers to check just the paint dabs. They should be able to tell you if it is a 509 cam.
