How close can fan be to radiator
How close can the fan be to the radiator with out it hitting during operation. I replaced the a crappy flex fan with the Mopar thermostic one that has a shaft and flange that bolts directly onto the waterpump. Its real close now due to the extra length. It doesnt hit in a free state but I'm worried that when it gets going the blades will deflect and hit the radiator. Right now I have the motor all the way back and I have .5 between the two. Do I have a problem or not? I've never run one that close. thanks.............Dave

I had the same problem with the MP fan clutch package. I wasn't comfortable with how close it was (1/4") so I replaced it with a shorter one from the local parts house. As far as the maximum distance, I shoot for no more than an inch from the radiator.

I read @ another site that if the rear of the fan is out of the shroud it will flow more air.

I don't have the fan shroud on mine, if you have one it's recommended that the fan is half way in, half way out.
