I've read a lot of conflicting information on heads for the small block. Some say the 308's are the best, others the X heads and some say the magnums. Has anyone used the heads sold by Aerohead Racing? I'm excluding the W2's and he aluminum heads due to cost. Given the machining cost of redoing a set of heads, the aerohead heads look to be a reasonable alternative. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

i think you are refering to the 2 complete heads for 499.00 i think this is a good deal the standard heads are smog heads but they are still good heads they come with good s.s. valves all they need is to have the bowls cleaned out and a little port work and they will flow very good. there are some posts on this board about porting these heads. with very good info. just do a search and read up.

Flow and port wise all the 340/360 heads are about the same, except the '308' high swirls. I think the Aerohead package is a well priced one. They really like some bowlport work to be done, without it they will not be much better than stock heads. I think Aerohead charges about 100-150$ for the bowl work. With the earlier 340/360 heads I would pay no attention to casting numbers, or at least not pay any extra for a particular casting. The 308's are a different story, according to my experience they worked better than 2.02/1.60 '915 J' mildly pocket ported heads out of the box.

Use any 340 head. #587 360 castings work very well.

I'll try to dig up the photos I have of my AeroHeads and the porting I did to them, Then I can scan them and post it.
I was suprised to find casting flash INSIDE the ports.
