350 stroked 318
i ve pondered on this idea a few times before. i dont wanna buy the speedomotive kit but i am interested in building a 350 stroker (318 block 360 crank) i decided on eagle rods and a MP Heavy Cast 3.58" stroke crank with 318/340 mains. ok now what do i do about pistons? need to find 350 stroker pistons that arent part of some kit.

Childs/Albert will make you some for $96 each. Diamond, Ross, or JE can make them also. You have to give them the specifications for the piston you desire. No company that I have found has a "shelf" piston for modified 318 engines.

Believe the man. I have looked EVERYWHERE for 318 stroker pistons off the shelf. Not happening. I want to do a 318 -> 390 stroker with the 4" MPP crank. As soon as the block is done at the machine shop and I have all the specs I am just going to call Ross. Their internet pricing for a set of 8 is $586.24 for FORGED flat top 318 customs last I checked (you custom set your CR, I plan on doing 9.5:1), + some extra charges for options, but it's really reasonable considering. At http://www.rosspistons.com in case you were wondering.

im not looking at any thing too hot (8.5:1-9.5:1) itd be a good candidate for one of those twin turbo setups thats so hot now. what knida machine work will i have to do?

this is what im looking at as far as rotating assembly.
I beam rods are good to 500hp and are only $229. heavy cast crank is about $300 (either 3.58" or 4") so i guess i can shuck out a few bucks for pistons. |

Thanks. Muscle Motors designing customs for 318 is relatively new, I guess as I just called them last month and they said they weren't doing that for 318 stuff. I loved the setup they advertised for the 360 but couldn't find a 360 block without cracks and got a good 318 ready to go. Now it seems not only do they have them, but for about $100 less than going to Ross direct. Good news for me.
As for machine work, I think besides the standard block prep (cylinder cleanup, align mains, square deck) you're done if you go with the 3.58". I think the 4" will require a little clearancing work at the bottom of the cylinder for the connecting rod to pass by without hitting there. |

ell someone s gonna have to confirm this info. it says any small block but maybe they re excluding all sub 4" bore engines.
