Default Carter 625cfm

I have a really mild 360 in my duster, 340 manifolds, 2500rpm stall,340cam, slight port and polish on the stock headers, mopar orange box, duel exhaust with a crossover like I said really mild. I took my thermoquad off because the throttle shaft was worn and went the holly route because it was cheap. I was told my thermoquad was a 750cfm. The holly that went on was a 650cfm which I was told was plenty. Really sick of tuneing the holly constantly and its a strange design too, one solid casting not the typical sandwitched on fuel bowls. I know a guy who has a good carter afb 625cfm for cheap. Is the 625 going to make my 360 happy?

Cool

Yep, that 625 should be plenty to make the 360 happy.

This is what we have on our 360. Had no problems. Motor is all stock besides cam. It has a 484 lift purple shaft. Also the Thermoquad only came in 2 versions. A 800 and a 1100. This is what came on our 360 but it wouldnt fire the car. They are great carbs if they are working 100%. If not they are junk.

Those 4010's are real turds. The bottom gasket surface is really prone to leak. I wished mine worked, they look kinda cool. Im looking for a few power pistons with clips to get my AVS to work. does Edelbrock or Carter sell these seperately, or does anyone have 2 they can spare? Ill gladly give up a couple bucks plus shipping for them.

800cfm? Guess the guy who told me that did know what he was saying had one guy tell me 750cfm and the other said it was an 800cfm. At any rate if that 625 is cheap enough I'll toss my holley in the bush been nothing but a pain so far

Carter Made the TQ in 3 sizes. The 800, the 850, and a race only 1000cfm. If your car is a original as you list I would keep a TQ on it. I don't know if that throttle shaft can be bushed but a TQ is what you need to stay #'s matching. Contact Demon Sizzler for TQ questions. Also the 625 won't bolt to a stock TQ intake. The 625 is a nice carb, used to have one on my 383. I originally wanted a 9801 TQ but they were sold out and hadn't retooled to make more(1977) so I bought a 9636 Carter and I pitched the factory Holley.

My 625 bolted right on my 360 with no problems to a factory 4bbl from '79. Its enuff to feed the engine. Any more mods and i would think about a 700-750 cfm unit.

I wouldnt mind a thermoquad, the guy also has a TQ off a 400 imagine it would be an 800cfm? Only problem is I belive its in need of a rebuild and I'm told a TQ is a tough thing to get sealed properly??

You should have no problems unless the carb took a beating. Like super servere over heating or being body slamed on a fender.
Take a straight edge to the mating surface's around the parts. There is where you'll see any problems. Also check if its crack on the main body. The plastic (Phenolic resin) is prone to cracking. They can be sealed back up.
I LOVE me T-Q.
