Have your dealer check his performance catalogs. I've seen CAI systems at the dealers for the Neons. Looks like K&N's Gen II. Of course, it could be for the regular Neons and not the R/T's. Just like my situation. Also, K&N just came out with a '01 GenII for my truck, maybe they've done the same thing for your car.

What kind of performance do you get from it?

Default Neon R/T

Performance stock is 0-60 in 7.7sec, and 1/4 mile in 16.2, for the 2001 neon r/t. I have checked with my dealer and the guys at mopar performance, the R/T was given a redesigned intake manifold so no "regular" neon intakes will work. The throttle body is bolted directly to the outside of the air filter box, so I can't just get rid of the stock box. Thanks anyway, I will keep on looking

Biggrin cold air intake

hey i made my own cold air intake on my 2001 r/t get 3" pvc from home depot and 120deg bent cut out the bottom of your air box then buy a k&n cone filter and a reducer to 2 1/4 inch od make that 1 inch long then tighten the k&n filter. you will notice at 5000rpms there is a growel that is the butterfly in the intake manifold opening up its like a v-tec /seconderies on a carb it pulls so much harder above 5000rpm!! just with that droped .3ths in my 1/4. and the sound is awsome its scares people its a wonderful thing. I have the k&n for a 2000 chevy 6.6 v8. huge filter, but very loud.

Default I just replaced the filter and removed...

the 'Air silencer' located at the Drivers fender well. You can re-attach the original piping which now has two big openings which now relieves the air restriction. The big factory airbox setup has been proven to be adequate as a CAI if modified in this manner for daily driving and spending $$$ for aftermarket would be a pure waste. I have attached a pic of the replacement drop in filter
with the top off for viewing purposes...Here is a link....
