Biggrin manual trans question

Hi Everyone
I recently began work on a 1969 Super Bee as a home for my 440 engine (which was given to me free....makes for a cool story) Anyway, Ive wanted to back it with a 4 or 5 speed manual. However since I'm a little new to this, I'm not really sure what is the best route to go for. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch

If the car did not come with a manual tranny then you'll need to get a couple of things to create a manual tranny setup in the car. You'll need the clutch petal, clutch to Z-bar rod, clutch Z bar, Z bar to clutch fork rod, manual bellhousing that matches the tranny, clutch, and different driveshaft. You'll also need a shifter and the linkage for the shifter and weld in a manual tranny shifter hump in your tranny tunnel. I probably missed something, but it IS doable just as long as you can get the parts and are prepared for the amount of work required. A 833 can handle your engine and will work fine. For a 5 speed you can get a richmond but I've heard it requires tranny tunnel modification to fit, or you can try a Tremec TKO. These guys make the bellhousing and the necessary mods to the Trmec TKO to fit behind a mopar engine but last I heard they had delivery problems.

Default Thanks a bunch

Thanks for the info.
I can understand that it's
going to be a lots of work. But
this partcular car has
had both auto and manual trans
in it, which i can only assume could
only make for a smaller (or bigger)
pain in the neck. Anyway thanks for
the help. Take it easy
