Exclamation 440 direct drive starter and flywheel

Need big time help. Is there a direct replacement starter for the direct drive starter w/"Tin Can" solenoid. Something of better quality? Keep burning soleniod out. How many different flywheel diamiters did the 440 have?

Default

Only direct drive starter I saw was in a factory 66 repair manual. All others were the gear reduction type. The new Hitachi or Nippondenso "mini" units are smaller and offer more torque.

Question Hemi Starter?

I thought only the Hemi engines had direct drive starters. I think they also had a flywheel with a different number of teeth. I'd look in the MP Performance Book to see what they used.
