today i was driving my challenger home from the shop after getting some electrical probs fixed and it feels like its slipping into nuetral then back into drive, especially going up hills. There was also a little smell but was really hard to smell. I was wondering if it could be low tranny fluid,or excessive heat,or a clogged tranny pickup. Im new with trannys so please help.
Thanks ------------------ M....massively O....over P....powered A....and R....rare |

The first thing to do would be to check the fluid level. Make sure you are level, in neutral, and have a warm engine. Look at the fluid and see if it looks dirty or contaminated and change it if necessary. (wouldn't hurt to change it anyway) I had a Ramcharger that got water in the tranny. The fluid would burn and the truck wouldn't go. After I changed the fluid and filter, everything was fine. I only had to do this about 8 times before I finally flushed all the water out, but it worked.
