Default Hemi Scoop center supports?

I know that alot of Hemi Scoops use 2 or 3 supports in the center section. I'm putting one on my 69 barracuda so if I used them I'd probably use 2. I'll be using the bolt on version where the lip is on the inside. I dont plan on using fiberglass to attach it to the hood. The places I called about the scoop dont have these supports. The questions are...........

1......Can these be purchased or do I need to make them.

2...... What material are they made from.

3.......how are they attached to the scoop and the hood.

4.......If I dont use them, will the scoop flex too much

Your answers and any imput will be appreciated....thanks...Dave

I have never seen any of these supports sold as a support for the hood scoop.
You can fab. them out of lag bolts and a peice of 5/16" or 3/8" fuel tubing.
The scoop will sag if there not used and if you use a thin repro. scoop it will bow up from the air going into it.
Hope this helps.
Joe

I've used 1/2 solid alum rod, which I then drilled & tapped both ends. Use a 1/4 20 size tap. Then use either stainless or alum. screws to fasten.

mine are out of 1/4 inch hard line. (brake.) one support was bent as a hoop to run the entire lip of the scoop (fits nice inside that notch) then the 2 supports were welded on, and then bolted in from the bottom. the whole assembly was then fiberglassed in place. really made a huge differance. you an see it on my website.

Default scoop

I have built a replica super stock dodge dart with that style scoop + I used a bolt cut off on my bottom of my steel scoop + welded it as for through the hood + drilled two holes + nutted it on top + bottom to keep from flexing + yes your scoop will lift + compress well going down the track even with the supports ours still pushes down a little in the middle with a good head wind + pin your hood or it my open even with a good latch.
