Is there anyone company out there that makes
a fuel injection setup for MoPars? Man the Chevy guys get some cool bolt-ons. Holley has the ProJection setup but I have heard that most that try it are not satisfied with the results. They don't seem to perform much better than a carb. |

I can help you build a MPI system but it cost $1600 and up depending on what you want. And how much tuning you want to do.

It is a relatively easy thing to do with a "generic" EFI collection of parts. Most of the manufacturers make throttle bodies that go on carb manifolds, and there are quite a few shops that will modify a manifold and bore fuel rails pretty reasonably.
I have done an Accel and a Speedpro on my 340 turbo Challenger, both 100% in my garage. The results are incredable when compared to a carb. Personally, I would stay away from Accel (I took mine off and threw it out) unless they have their new program out (it is over a year late). The old program is pretty much obsolete when compared to Speedpro or Haltech and others. Definitely consider using wide band O2 sensing, it will reduce your programming time to about 10% of what it would normally be. |

My dream has always been twin turbo charged port fuel injected big block MoPar. I have a 400 put back I want to build for that purpose. The goal would be excellent road manners, POWER of course, and descent gas milage. I would want to do most all the work myself. If I built a 400 (would swap in a 383 crank of course) relatively mild and combined that with fuel injection and turbo charging those performance goals should be attainable. |

Righteous: That's very doable, I built my system myself in my home garage, and got the type of results you are looking for. Small block,600hp, 14 psi, intercooled,22mpg.

COOL TurboDodge!
I scored this 400 from a '73 Newport. A low compression solid motor. A good place to start. I looked at the resources mentioned for the port fuel injection, looks cool. Now it comes on the how toos on turbo charging such an engine. How to plumb it and so on. What kind of turbo chargers should I look for? What kind of wastegate setup should I get? Do I need custom made exhaust manifolds? I envisioned this setup in a B body car. Probably something like a '71 or 72 Roadrunner or Satellite; there should be plenty of room. Heck, I wouldn't care about cruising around in a big c body car as long as it had the power and got descent mileage. |

Turbododge, Sounds like an great setup! I have been wanting to do the same thing to my Challenger. Can you tell me how you did it? What would it cost for you to do it again now that you have done it once? Are the products you used "off the shelf" or did you have to fabricate a lot of stuff?

Here is a brief list of the major parts and approxiamte costs:
Turbos-rebuilds made to order--$600 ea. EFI-I use Speedpro now-have run carb and Accel-$2000-$4000 Intercooler--$800 Wastegates--$250 ea Exhaust parts--$200--homemade Exhaust manifolds--parts to build--$100--homemade Intake--parts to modify--$50--homemade Would guess about $1000 in other assorted things like gauges, oil lines, fittings, ductwork, etc. |

For anyone interested on turbocharging Mopars there was a topic I had started when talking about it. look a few pages back in the performance section or just do a search for it.

You know, Since turbo charging and fuel injection is such a departure from the normal routes to increasing power there should be a seperate forum. What do ya thinK?? |

If I remember correctly, Rance was using the Accel DFI setup. The program is very old and won't even run on a modern (faster than 166) laptop. It has been far outpaced by the Speedpro, Haltech, Motech, etc. The new Accel program has been promised for about a year, but has been delayed many times. I saw a demo, beta, program and it was VERY sophisticated, and if it worked well, would be very good.
If Rance is using the new Accel or the other, more up to date programs, there should be no problem, but I would not recommend the standard Accel from Rance or anybody else. |

I dont remember which System the rance setup uses I just remember it was 3500 turnkey complete and some people I talked to said they were not that helpful in tuning and setting it up.
This is part of the reason I am going with my own home made system but it will take awhile but is totally upgradable by me with DIS also.
