You'll need a donor car to get the pedals and linkage. It will be a challange & time consuming.
Also get the tunnel too. Cost; Donor car/pedals etc. And a bit of welding the tunnel in. |

Crazy??? not at all.I think all of us with the older cars would love to even the playing field back to level. Your gonna be cutting the tunnel, I think you'll be fabricating the new hump. Donor car for the linkage. I would think your going to need some sort adapter for the block to bell housing,( as far as I know the richmond 6's don't have an application for chrysler applications). Then the "Z" bar to clutch linkage, rear trans crossmember, driveshaft would probably have to be shortend. I don't know this for sure, but I have been contemplating this swap also and those are the points I would be concerned about. We'll have to take a look at that MoparMuscle write up for sure!! One last thing, since your car is an auto, you will have to verify your crank is drilled for the pilot bushing, not just drilled for machine work.Yes that does mean pulling the crank to have it done by a machine shop.

I've done that swap using the Doug Nash unit. It takes a fair amount of fabrication. You'll need to be able to machine and weld or else take the car to someone who can. I'd recommend the T-56 tranny rather than the Richmond. The Richmond unit is very noisy on the street.

I did the Richmond 5 speed and it works great behind the twin turbo 340. Fabrication was not bad, did it all in the home garage, except for the drive shaft. It took two weekends.
If you look at a Richmond, be sure to get the "street" version, as the race version has straight cut gears and is very noisy. My street version is quieter than the 833 it replaced. |
