Will the top part of a 3 piece kickdown rod for a 360 Truck Thermoquad work on a Carter 650 carb on a '70 318 with 3 piece linkage? I am gonna swap to a 4bbl soon, and I am wondering if this will work, since I am on a tight budget. I should be running this with an edelbrock performer Dual plane or a factory 273 4bbl intake.

Thanks

You should be able to make it work easy. Get the adapater from carter. Use all the hardware from the T-Q.
Since your useing the 318, I read some where that the Performer ports are 318 sized. Find out for sure from Edelbrock. The 273 intakes as well as some early 318's are somtimes a low-rise single plane. You would do better with the dual plane.
If the 273 intake is a dual plane unit, and you have both already, you'll more likely to better with the Edelbrock.

You should be able to make the kick-down work, but you will meed the taller cable bracket form the 360-4bbl to fit on the 4-bbl intake.

I just put a performer intake on my 360, and the manifold ports narrow down where the intake ports meet the head, probbly so it will fit a 318 port. I opened up the intake port to the 360 gasket size, which was really easy because the manifold ports are 360 sized right behind where the mating serface is. I think I only needed to port the first 1/2" into the port to get the correct size for the 360.

You may have to bend this rod for some offset and you may not get full throttle at the trans when you wot at the carb so you may need to put a 1/4" nut & bolt w/washers thru the slot so as to give full throttle at the trans linkage when full throttle at the carb,simple.....PRO....
