Default Carter Thermoquad ID

Friend gave me a thermoquad for my 318 4 barrel buildup and I can't find a spec's sheet anywhere so far and I have been at it for 2 hours now. It has the number 9077s stamped on a bolt hole, any info like cfm would be great or point me to a good web site I can search.

Red face Lean Burn!

Well ,my old Carter book lists it for a 1977 400 wA/T, Lean Burn with catalytic converter. It might be usable, I've never messed with the Lean Burn stuff. Maybe someone else has experience on them.

Default Carb

I know that up here in Canada the lean burn carbs were no problem until 1986 or so when they started to incorporate the feedback solenoid and o2 sensor etc. If it was from a 70's car then it will be usable. Does your book say how much cfm it is rated at?

Default Carb

I kind of thought it was a big one, 850 cfm is way to big for my little 318. This one is in good shape and maybe I will sell it and keep looking for a smaller one. Thanks for the replys.

Thumbs up thermoquad

JCarter64; The 850 will work just fine on a 318. You just have to jet accordingly and set the air door tension correctly.

Default 850 cfm on 318

Quickd100 thanks for the info . I kind of thought I might be able to use it if I really had it tuned right from a pro. I tinker around hear and there but somethings I would gladly pay a pro to look at. Has anyone else had any luck with a 850 on a sb 318? I have a 1985 model with a whopping 140 hp which will soon be upped a bit, I was think of 220-240 hp or somewhere like that. It is a daily driver so I don't want to sacrifice to much in the way of fuel economy, just enought power to pull my camper trailer that is 2000 lbs and the odd tire spin. I am going to use a stock 4 barrel intake to save money and a good cam, not sure which one yet but I will do some more homework before I jump into anything. I guess I need to pick up a copy of the Mopar Performance book, somebody told me that they have lots of buildups in there.
