Default What Size Carburetor?

Hey, Ya'all!

Does any body out there know what size (cfm) 4 barrel carburetor came on the original 383 and 440 Magnum motors in 1970? I'm looking to go with a brand new 4 barrel carburetor as I Magnumize my 2 barrel 383.

The only 4 barrel carburetors offered in Mopar Performance Catalog are Holley "Universal Performance Carburetors." They have one mechanical secondary model at 850 cfm and 3 vacuum secondary models at 600, 750 and 855 cfm. Of course, they don't give any clues as to what carb is best for what motor packages. I've already purchased the Magnum Resto Cam Shaft Package #P 4452 783.

Also, I'm considering mechanical secondaries for quicker throttle response. Does this make sense? What are the draw backs of mechanical secondaries compared with vacuum?

Does the 8.7:1 compression ratio have a need to be upped to 10:1?

I'm planning to find a cast iron 4 barrel intake manifold for the project. Does it matter if it's not from a Magnum motor?
You guys have been so much help to me, in the past, that I'll be very happy to hear from you again.

Default 383 HP

IF 1970 INTAKES SAME NON HP AND HP
ACTUALLY IF 906 HEADS THEN SAME
VALVES SIZE SAME , IF NOT HOLLY THEN CARTER AVS
USUALLY 750 GET 1 WITH ALL 4 HOLES SAME SIZE
THE 383'S HAD SMALLER PRIMARY, ALWAYS GO TO THE
LARGER CARB .
U WILL NEED HP MANAFOLDS ALSO FOR A B BODY

If its a street car I'd go with the 750 Edelbrock with electric choke. Alot less maintainence than a Holley carb. I would also mill the heads about .030 to get the compression up a little. The 906 head will work fine, but need hardened exhaust seats for todays unleaded fuel.
