Changing to 1.6 roller rockers can yield 15-25HP. You will need new pushrods with the change. Mopar Performance has both of them but if you wanted to save a few dollars you might consider buying them from Crane. If you decide to go with the 1.6 ones make sure you have the proper clearances. (piston to valve) Good luck.

Most 1.6 Rockers are adjustables which require a cupped pushrod. Most likely his 318 has a Hydraulic cam, lifters and rockers and such they are not adjustable.
I have thought about doing the 1.6 adjustables on my Hydraulic cam and know that I will have to change pushrods and will go with a make your own set. I will be buying the crane Iron 1.6 or 1.7 Rockers. Not the rollers although I would like to get the steel rollers but thats out of my prce range at the moment. Rumblefish360, the need to change push rods when migrating to an adjustable rocker can be due to multiple factors. One such factor is that the basic ductile iron rocker arm requires a cup style on the end of the push rod. Another reason is that some adjustable rockers are aluminum roller style where the
manufacturer suggests using a heat treated, or chrome moly, or even thicker diameter push rod. Certain roller rockers (especially those of non-stock ratio) require different length push rods to ensure that the preload is able to be adjusted properly. Hope that explains it. |

Great advice from all. I'd just like to add to watch out for the clearence gremlins where the pushrod goes thru the head. Its usually not a problem butttttttttt.,,,,dj
